About This Game Age of Gladiators II: Rome is a single-player strategy game set in the twilight of the ancient Roman Republic; a violent and unpredictable time when gladiatorial games were nearing the height of their popularity. Hire scouts to scour the continent for potential prospects – once you have recruited your gladiators, you will need to manage their morale and personality while equipping them for battle. Recruit support staff, upgrade your gladiator school, collect bounties, research technologies, partake in side missions, and manage the wealth and reputation of your ludus as it grows each day.As your fighters win battles and increase in level, it will be up to you to decide how to focus their abilities by spending attribute, weapons, and expertise points. Compete, trade, and interact with other in-game owners as you advance through various cities of the empire before achieving enough fame to compete in the grand coliseum of Rome herself.Build your story. Build your empire.Features:Control your gladiators with the new 3D isometric turn-based combat system, where fights can have hundreds of different outcomes. Hospitals, sparring mats, barracks, armories, workshops, and more. Gladiators are born with their own dynamically generated physical attributes, classes, and personalities. It is up to you to shape your gladiator into the most proficient killing machine possible. As your gladiators level up, they gain points to spend on their attributes, weapons training, and expertise. Expertise allows you to build and customize your fighter according to their appropriate strengths. Weapons training allows you to specialize your gladiator with a specific weapon. The physicality of your gladiators will increase or decrease with age, depending on if they are in their prime or declining.Hire trainers to help your gladiators level faster, doctors to keep them healthy, scouts to find new fighters, and blacksmiths to improve weapons and armor.Manage your gladiators carefully – their morale, greed, injuries, fatigue, weapons training, and more must be taken into account before sending them to battle. As your gladiators gain glory from battle, they will become more widely recognized and adored by the crowds. Definitely a few bugs to work out though.. This game has some flaws, and is missing some expected mechanics, features and other things that have become somewhat standard in this type of game. I would say the best thing this game has going for it, is the Dev and his willingness to make the game better by listening to the players and adding features they request, in very little time compared to larger games that take months and sometimes years (Looking at you DayZ) to add features that the playerbase is requesting. In the end, if you like tactical RPG's set in a Roman centric gladiator style era, then this is probably the game for you. If you are looking for heavy RPG elements, well I am afraid that currently this game is lacking in that department I am afraid. The tactical part is pretty lackluster as well, as there is not much in the way of tactically outmanuevering your opponent. You basically just walk up to them and hit them a few times and they die, or they do the same to you and you die. There is a lot they could do, and I believe the Dev is actively trying to do those things without making it too difficult for other people that don't want as much challenge or thinking involved. I would recommend this game in it's current state and price point. The dev is continuing to work and I trust he will do that into the near future to optimize this game. Go ahead and buy it, and have some fun mon-capitan. When I first saw this game on the special sale list, I quickly brushed it off as something lame, until I saw some of the bad reviews. When I read some of the bad reviews, I thought ok, this is coming off as a bit whiny, mostly about bad graphics or poor game play. So I decided to put down $20 and see what this game is about, After all I've paid way more for much worse, as we all have. After playing for about an hour its really not a bad game, yeah it has a few bugs, but nothing game breaking. The graphics are nothing special but not terrible. The game is mostly a gladiator mangament game set during roman times, You have to hire trainers, buy gladiators, build certain buildings to help with that training gladiators, win matches, money and fame and in between matches events trigger that can either help you or hurt you, its kinda cool. When first starting the game it can be kinda rough but once you figure things out its smooth sailing from there. This game is definitley not for everyone but if your ok with management style games that dont have a lot of flashy graphics, give it a try. Most gamers will run and look the other way if the graphics arent flashy and shiny. This but game does have some pretty cool game play too it and the developers are adding more too it and taking suggestions, so try it out.. Your guys level up but it seems to make little or no difference. You can level a guy ten times and not notice any change to his ability's Hit chances does'nt seem to be computed correctly. Opponents seem to become too tough way too fast. The developer does seem to be interested in making the game better. Having said that trying to compete with the ai quickly becomes frustrating.. this is a good game buy it , you will decide to keep it before the refund time runs out.. I downvoted this game, but if I could, i'd rate in somewhere in the middle. It's a fun little game that I did enjoy. But it just feels... empty. It gets old fairly quickly, and there isn't reallyanything new to introduce as the game goes on to keep you interested.Even though it's cheap, not worth full price.Maybe grab this if it's a big sale, but only expect to get 5 to 10 hours of fun out of it.Wouldn't recommend.. While i like this game and i can see the upside and replayablity some of the mechaincs are just a little to one sided . The morale for your gladiators is very very bad imo . Constantly having to fork out coins to make sure they are happy or spec into it makes it tedious to make sure that you can keep them happy . Im yet to find a A gladiator that i can train without something happening . There are a few balancing issues in that regard but the game itself is great . Dev can do alot with it if he wishs and i hope he does Solid 7.5/10. This game is borderline broken and very unbalanced. Basically it's a guessing game on wether or not you will actually get an opponent you can actually beat. Sometimes you'll get an opponent so weak you can beat them in one hit or you'll get a tank with almost 3 times as much health as you with 6 Yarrow roots so they can literally attack until you're dead. I could only go so far with putting up with this game but constantly saving my game before every fight hoping my odds are better is not fun. Also if you have to fight a lion just reload your last save because you will more than likely lose they can attack you 7 times per turn and will just utterly destroy you. This game is dirt cheap but in its current state its not good or fun. Hopefully they work on the game and make it a little more deep and enjoyable but right now the combat is stale. The strategy elements are non existant. The animation is straight boring. And the game as a whole is just frustrating. Do not buy in its current state even with the sale. There is a lot to work with here and I wish the developers well and hope that they can turn this into a halfway enjoyable game.. I recommend this if you want to manage a ludus of 5 bloodthirsty gladiators. You recruit fighters or buy slaves on the market and train them. Then they die in the arena. Or live on to fight another time. The arena fights are as simple as expected but nevertheless entertaining. The game is tough at the beginning but good fun. Later on, it becomes too easy on the easiest settings as your champions win every fight and you drown in money, so you can start over after you get the hang of the game or just advance easily. Some tipps for starters:* Don`t take loans* Take the whole fighting purse for yourself. Donate money to gladiators afterwards from their info screen.* If your scout doesn`t come up with A or B gladiators, get some slaves from the market to fight. They will flee after a while but this should earn you enough coins to recruit A and B grade fighters when they show up.* Focus on one ability after another when leveling up. It is best to start with the one that increases your hit chance.* Get a coach and medic, they are quite usefell. Buy the other staff when you got money for it.* Buy the best equipment possible, but if you cannot afford it at the start, the normal one will do.* Your gladiators will start to become powerful at level 10, so be patient and accept the inevitable losses that are part of the business.* Forfeit matches if your gladiators are tired or wounded. You will get famous later.* Try not to go in debt, otherwise morale will plummit and gladiators leave.Have fun with this nice indy game! Finalized Release Date: August 21st! 10% Launch Discount!: Hey all, I've finalized the release date to Tuesday, August 21st. My reason for moving it by a week is due to the fact there are some pretty heavy-hitting games coming out on the 14th (I'm giving some free advertising here to Phantom Doctrine, Walking Dead, Death's Gambit, and State of Mind). Not to mention the new World of Warcraft expansion.Though my game is sufficiently different from those, I want to give Age of Gladiators II: Rome the best release possible. Release Date Set!: Hello!I have set a tentative release date of August 15, 2018 for Age of Gladiators II: Rome. This gives me two solid months to continue fine-tuning the balance of the game as well as working out the last of the bugs that have come up so far from early play-testing.As well, I'm aiming also to have some more features put in from my wishlist, such as a fight pit allowing an owner to pit their gladiators against one another in practice matches. With this iteration of the game, I have gone back to the roots of the original Age of Gladiators beyond just the ancient Roman setting - this version will also have a similar city progression of the first game, but this time based on fame and money. As well, it has been simplified from Age of Gladiators II: Death League, as I was able to better ascertain from that version the features that people enjoyed and versus the ones they didn't.Please feel free to follow this page as I make more announcements in the coming weeks!. Latest Updates - August 22nd: Some excellent continued feedback and requests from players. Here are some of the latest updates I've deployed up to v1.5:Combat Animations - The AI controlled gladiators were only using one combat animation previously. This has now been fixed and they now use multiple animations when attacking, which should make the spectate mode a bit more entertaining.Trades - Quantity has a quality of it's own; but no longer in Age of Gladiators II: Rome. Opposing bosses will not be swindled into taking many sub-par gladiators for one good one. They now judge trades based on the average quality of the gladiator(s) being offered. Special Items - Bandages now called Healing Powder. Makes a bit more sense in the arena.Ethnic Label - Thracian and Iberian had swapped combat ability labels in their Other Stats window, this now fixed.Donate - It now costs 2,000 to donate to gladiator rather than 1,000. This will accentuate the need for good purse sharing management.Arena - Battle freeze, fixed issue where opposing gladiator did not know what to do and froze in place. I suppose people sometimes do the same thing in combat, but time doesn't also freeze with them... this is now fixed. Missing Staff Members - Fixed a bug where staff members were running away during the wrong quest. Thanks again for all your amazing support thus far!. Latest Updates - August 27th: Smaller updates today.Combat - Precise, Normal and Power Attacks now show proper additions/deductions from hit chance.Combat - General human and animal kills now being tallied for barehanded kills.Game Settings - Chance of kills increased slightly for all difficultiesGame Settings - Prosperous mode much more prosperous, offering larger fight purses.Random Events - Weaponsmith improvement events now trigger. Note that I am still working furiously on the save/load and start new game bugs that are occasionally occurring as well. Thanks again for all of your amazing support thus far!. Latest Updates - August 30th: Big update today, including some combat changes.Combat - Unspent AP at the end of each turn gets turned into a counter-attack buff. So for example, if a gladiator has 5 unused AP, this will contribute 10% to their counter-attack chance during their defensive turn and reset once it is their attack turn again. This should add an additional element of thought when fighting.Combat - Lowered the AP bonus of Inspiration from 5 AP to 3 AP. Combat - Inspiration no longer used any AP. Combat - Reduced glancing blow damage from 30% regular damage down to 20% regular damage.Combat - Counter-attack now triggering during glancing blows.Weapons - Lowered slightly the damage range of Sica and increased slightly the damage range of Spatha. Will only apply for new weapons on the market.Game - Donate button costs 3,000 gold now instead of 2,000.Combat - Fixed bug where counter-attack attempts were sometimes tallying incorrectly.
